NVIDIA Announces GeForce GTX 660, GTX 650 Ti Boost Price Cuts

Ahead of things to come this week, NVIDIA has announced a preemptive price cut for a couple of their mainstream GeForce products. As of today, the GTX 660 is getting an official price cut to $179, which is down from the $200 or so prices that it was at a bit earlier this year. Meanwhile the GTX 650 Ti Boost is getting a price cut down to $149 for the 2GB model, and $129 for the 1GB model.

Interestingly, NVIDIA did take the time to reiterate that these are the only price cuts that are taking place. The GTX 760 and GTX 770 are not getting price cuts and will remain at $249 and $399 respectively.

Do people really get their panties in a rustle over these cuts?I can't imagine paying more than $180 for a 660. I believe it's been lower than that more than once.
Admittedly, this cut may push sale prices down further. That's always welcome.

Yeah, I bought a 660 for $180 about 7 months ago. You can take a look at the history here: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-02gp...It feels like the MSRP has basically been $180 for most of this year. The fact that the 760 and 770 aren't being cut shows how "serious" Nvidia is with these "price cuts".

Yeah 660 has been selling for $180 for some time, as low as $160 I believe a few times, but this will just mean you can get them for maybe $20 cheaper AR.Muyoso - Monday, October 7, 2013 - link

IMO 670 is replaced by the 770. They occupy the exact same number affix and price point. The newer model being fully enabled+faster is Nvidia's way of advancing the 700 series from the 600 series.Pity that they priced the 780 so high. It should really have come at the 680's old price point.

670 seems like it is just going to EOL at around that $300-$350 MSRP mark with some sales in the $220-$250 range. I picked up a Galaxy 670 GC (680PCB) for $230 shipped AR a few weeks ago and I've seen a few other custom models from Asus go for $250. I kinda think that a strong 290X for ~$600 will push the 780 down to $550 which would push the 770 down to $350 and that's about it. As much as I would like it, I don't think the $250-$350 range isn't going to see a ton of change when AMD drops it's new chips.chizow - Monday, October 7, 2013 - link
Latest rumors on 290X pricing indicate it may just slot in between the 780 and Titan at $700-$730. If that's the case we might not see any movement on pricing, which would make sense if Nvidia plans to stand pat on 760/770 pricing.
